What’s Better for Mining RX 580 8GB vs GTX 1070 TI?

126 ratings | 12636 views
Who hashes best, the AMD RX 580 8GB or GTX 1070 TI mining Ethereum? Which GPU provides the best return on investment based on cost and power consumption? In this video, I compare the two cards to see what works best considering my high electricity costs. Visit Vector Technologies @VectorTech1 for AMD original/modded BIOS roms, Overclock settings and undervolt settings! My rigs are doing way better now!

I have the choice of Radeon™ RX 580 ARMOR MK2 8G OC, the 570 8G version and a Gigabyte RX 580 Gaming 8G - all the same price - what should I go and why? I have two second hand Gigabytes already but happy to swap them out over time - 480 8G and 570 4G. Thanks!

Yet another AMD shame and Nvidia gloat. Heaven help me. Amazes me that miners want Radeon RX580 cards, not Nvidia.

Get a fucking job and stop ruining pc gaming by mining.

I would like to see the same for GTX 1070 TI vs 1070 vs 1080 vs 1080 ti review - right now I favor gtx1070 s = 31.5 mhs
Ignacio C (6 months ago)
You have to set the core to 1240hz on the amd to get 30.5

I just came here to say fuuuuuccckkkk mining.

fucking miners

You need to do the same comparison with a different algorithm, that 580 will kick the 1070ti butt in a certain algo.

I have a friend with this sapphaire and he made Bios mod the VGA consumes 140W and it makes 32 MH / S ETH. I thought of buying a 580 dual Asus with these parameters just like my friend? Would you like to know how the 580's performance at nicehash is? Is it similar to a 1070ti?

Amd are better for mining
GODlikeCapitanU (8 months ago)
waste of time to watch this!!! , he does not have enough knowledge of moding and crypto, not talking about advange moding for rx and amd, 1070 ti can go up 100% up to 34 - 38mh 100w total power imput , rx 580 is 100% 30-32mh 120w total power imput, do your research this is bulshit and waste of time

Brother, many people are like that on youtube. It is full of reviews and they talk with some terms which are nothing special, but people who are not familiar will see them as the expert. Yes 1070TI is better than the 580s, much more expensive too etc. Still didn't watch the full video as I did not like it, but did he undervot the Vcore and vmem on the RX580, as this is a big power draw and also lower raises hashrate. A nitro is throwing 31MH/s for sure.

Thanks for your insight.

Hi, On all Nvidia cards do nothing with core clock, start miner and go down with power draw to 60% first, which is about 100W, then move with memory clock up as much as they can and stay stable. Mine are at about +830 memory clock, so go to 600 with no worries, and then make small steps up and test. Using MSI afterburner

Hi could you please share the setup for 1070 to reach 32,6mhs and 100w power usage? Thanks a lot

what a nonsense! In India, Nvidia 1070ti's price is 54000 rs inr and rx580's price is 39000 rs. from Nehru Place, Delhi, 1070ti's gives 30 MH/s while my rx 580 (hynix) gives 31.90 constantly. This is a fully paid review and bullshit. totally fake.
State Of Tech AltCast (8 months ago)
Not a paid review. Never have received anything for free. Thanks for your accusations though.
The plug in of a monitor does matter, but not in your case, its more for low end cards like the 1050ti, i see about half a MH/s down if its connected to a display. Not much but a reason to unplug after maintenance.
big shot (8 months ago)
even my rx480 drops from 30 to 27mh/s ,so not only do i turn off monitor but i unplug it from gpu as well :)

I have been looking for this kind of video, glad its been added and your lucky to get that Rx Sapphire, wish I had one but there always more expensive
Pc ColdWar (9 months ago)
well i don't know what your doing but most place a saw in amd card claim about 125 watt for bad one and around 110 also rx 570 give around same but better roi but at least you have chosose a nice one lol sold rx 570 8gb for 500$ good luck finding good card in mining paradise that is canada;)

which GPU is better for mining? kill yourself.
Jake Garrett (9 months ago)
Why the flawed comparison? If you bother with anything out of the box, then you should check with BIOS mod (it will severely change your outcome). The AMD becomes more efficient than Nvidia. my RX went from 18 Mh/s to 28 Mh/s from running BIOS mod (30% increase) and using "compute" on AMD drivers (20% increase) RX 470 (Elpida Vram, definitely not good): 120w at 28 Mh/s (.23 Mh/s per watt) Titan Xp: 230w at 38.5 Mh/s (.167 Mh/s per watt) almost double the power, and nowhere near the 56 Mh/s 2 RX 470 cards would make with the same power. It also costs over 2x as much even if RX costs $500 each. Titan with -400core and +250Vram and 80% limit 60% fan at 69c RX 1100 Mhz core, 950 mV, 1950 Mhz Vram 1650 rpm fan at 69c (much quieter) Power recordings are taken at the wall in (total - system idle) fashion.

I would expect yours to be better results than what I attained with the RX 580. There also might be discrepancies from us using different power meters. Also note that there are a lot of AMD dominated coins (Cryptonight algo, but you would want Vega for that), and some are Nvidia biased, so it really is just what you plan on mining. I just find it weird you even bothered with overclocking and tuning if you didn't try the biggest improvement which is BIOS flashing (I might be able to match the same results with LN2 extreme overclocking, but obviously that's not practical on so many levels, BIOS modding is a bit easier...)

theres very diminishing returns above 27-28Mh on polaris shoot more for 100watts per card and see what hashrate u can get at there then compare to 1070ti ROI, things change a bit, even more so with 570s but i do think the 1070ti and 570 are the best mining cards out there for the MSRP

I mine Sumokoin ATM and I can tell you AMD beats NVIDIA there. A guy was reporting that his 1080ti was getting around 780 h/s. He said his Vega 64's get close to 2000 h/s each. My RX 480 gets about 770 h/s my 470 gets around 690 h/s (it can go over 700 but i start getting bad submissions).
Necro Sexual (9 months ago)
The 1050TI gets only about 300 h/s on that coin as well.
Country Prepper (9 months ago)
I know Nvidia cards work better for Equihash, but I believe AMD works best for Cryptonight. The only AMD cards I have are 560's though so I can't really compare with my 1070's. I am building a 1050ti rig when the parts come in later this week, so that should be a closer match for comparison to the 560's. I'm hoping to win that 580 to add to my AMD rig :) ~CryptoJuhl~ (I so need to start a crypto channel)
